After writing this, I got my print copy of The Economist for January 20th 2018 and in the Schumpeter blog, there was an article about advertising that laid out a similar future where advertising permeates our lives. Important to acknowledge that work and add the caveat that while I saw this as a fictional future, it might not be that fictional after all.
